I provide manuscript editing for academic researchers, primarily quantitative social scientists. I assist authors at all stages of the research and publishing process, from launching the initial working paper through crafting responses to peer reviewers. I have edited manuscripts that have been published in academic journals such as the American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, and American Economics Journal: Macroeconomics.

Why hire an editor?

  • Researchers who are exploring novel ideas in their fields must write and publish papers describing their work in order to contribute to the literature and advance in their employment. While the ideas, methods, and models described in these papers may be novel and important to their respective fields, researchers writing these papers often have difficulties conveying their work in a clear and concise manner.
  • Researchers collaborating on multi-author projects may find that their writing appears disjointed in initial drafts because of differences in writing styles and mannerisms of each individual author.
  • In a randomized experiment, economists perceive edited manuscripts as higher quality.

How does it work?

  • My goal is to help researchers clearly communicate their findings to specialists in their field and make their paper as accessible as possible to broader audiences.
  • My services include correcting usage of syntax and grammar, reducing use of jargon that may be confusing to readers, and restructuring sentences and paragraphs in order to improve readability and flow.
  • I can mark up your PDF file, directly edit a MS Word, LaTeX, or LyX document, or join a shared Overleaf project.
  • I ensure a consistent style in co-authored work.
  • I am available to provide copyediting and proofreading services to researchers writing in a wide range of academic fields.
